Role overview
Black Sheep Coffee is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented and commercially astute Senior Management Accountant to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Management Accountant, you will provide full support across all areas of Finance, primarily focusing on our Corporate Owned Store Estate (with the Franchise business supported by another member of the team), playing a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, insightful analysis, and strategic support across the business.
Role responsibilities:
- Management Accounting: End-to-end preparation of monthly management accounts, playing a vital role in the month end reporting process including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring the delivery of timely and accurate reporting and identifying any risk and opportunities to the business through a financial lens
- Monthly Reporting: Craft compelling monthly management packs that give insight beyond just the numbers—combining clear financials with sharp, actionable insights and narrative-driven commentary to inform strategic decision-making
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Supporting with the annual budgeting and re-forecasting processes across the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow. Identifying and communicating risks & opportunities against the budget and forecast
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement new processes to automate and streamline current reporting, driving a continuous improvement of financial processes and controls
- Business Partnering: Finance point of contact for our Corporate Owned stores, business partnering across Support office divisions, acting as a trusted partner to provide insightful information, monitoring and challenging operational performance across our Corporate Owned stores, identifying opportunities for growth, efficiencies and cost savings
- Supporting Growth: Designing and implementing financial reporting processes for new initiatives and developing areas of the business, as we continue to rapidly scale
Skills & Experience Required
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Previous experience in management accounting, ideally within a retail, hospitality, franchising, or quick-service environment
- Proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite experience a plus) and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to influence decisions
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- A good understanding of the IFRS and FRS 102, including knowledge of statutory accounts and relevant disclosures
