Role Overview


Black Sheep Coffee is seeking a skilled and motivated Analytics Engineer to design, develop, and maintain our Azure-based data infrastructure while delivering actionable insights to support data-driven decision-making across the organization.

As part of the Category & Product team, this role blends data engineering and analytics expertise to enable seamless integration of data systems, optimize workflows, and empower strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in SQL, data visualization, modern data stack tools, and cloud technologies, with the ability to collaborate across teams and translate data into meaningful insights.


Key Responsibilities


1. Data Engineering & Infrastructure

· Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines using Azure Data Factory to integrate and process data from multiple cloud-based systems.

· Implement effective data transformation and cleansing processes to ensure data quality and consistency.

· Build and manage data models, ETL workflows, and data warehousing solutions within the Azure ecosystem.

· Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data workflows for performance, reliability, and scalability.


2. Insights & Collaboration

· Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and key stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver tailored solutions.

· Analyze data and generate actionable insights to inform company decision-making and strategic planning.

· Create and maintain documentation for data engineering processes, fostering transparency and knowledge sharing.


3. Data Governance & Best Practices

· Ensure compliance with data governance, quality, and security best practices across the organization.

· Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices in data engineering and cloud technologies to drive continuous improvement.


About You

  • Experience: 1-3 years as a Data or Analytics Engineer, preferably within a Microsoft stack environment.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Azure Data Factory and other Azure services (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake).
  • Strong SQL skills with experience in relational databases (e.g., SQL Server).
  • Expertise in data modelling, ETL workflows, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Knowledge of data governance, quality, and security best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across teams and functions.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with additional Azure data services.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Git).
