Role overview
Black Sheep Coffee is seeking a highly motivated, commercially astute, detail-oriented Finance Analyst to join our dynamic team. As a Finance Analyst you will play a key role in supporting the Head of Finance to deliver budgets, forecasts, insightful analysis and strategic support across the business, as well as being a key part in Investor Relations and Corporate Finance. This is an opportunity for an entrepreneurial individual to join a fast-growing scale-up, with the potential for accelerated learning and development.
Role responsibilities:
· Play a central role in the development, monitoring and management of the annual budgeting and forecasting processes. Work closely with department leaders to ensure financial budgets and plans are aligned with overall business objectives
· Crafting compelling monthly management packs that give insight beyond just the numbers—combining clear financials with sharp, actionable insights and narrative-driven commentary to inform strategic decision-making
· Support Head of Finance with building and maintaining robust financial models to project company performance and evaluate new business opportunities
· Conduct ad hoc financial analysis, including scenarios analysis to identify potential risks and opportunities in business strategies
· Finance lead for data and systems - go-to expert within the Finance team for all financial systems and data sources. Own the understanding of how financial data flows across systems, how to use tools effectively and accurately. Provide guidance on data sources, promote best practices, and support the wider team in driving data consistency, integrity, and insight
· Business partnering across Support Office divisions, acting as a trusted partner to provide insightful information, identify opportunities for growth, efficiencies and cost savings
· Support Head of Finance with all Investor Relations and Corporate Finance matters
Skills & Experience Required
· A commercially focused, qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
· Previous experience working within a commercial finance role within retail, hospitality, franchising, or quick-service environment, or someone from a consulting or advisory background are preferences but not essential
· Advanced financial modelling skills with high proficiency in Excel, including use of complex formulas, pivot & data tables
· Thorough understanding of investment appraisal techniques, the ability to interpret their outputs and to make recommendations using these
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
· Meticulous attention to detail and well-developed organizational abilities
· Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, internal and external stakeholders
· Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
