Role Overview
Black Sheep Coffee is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Property Management Accountant to join our dynamic team. As a Property Management Accountant, you will play a crucial role in in managing all financial aspects of our property portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills and experience in property finance within the retail or hospitality sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly accounting process and reporting for all property costs including lease accounting under IFRS 16
- Perform monthly reconciliations of the property balance sheet including rent, rates, service charges, utilities and other property costs
- Own preparation of all sections of the property month end Management pack, including insightful variance analysis on both the property P&L and balance sheet
- Business partner the Head of Construction & Facilities on new store openings and property investment programmes
- Identify and implement new processes to streamline current property financial reporting processes
- Support with budgeting and forecasting for property P&L, balance sheet and cash flow. Identify and communicate risks & opportunities against the budget and forecast
- Identify opportunities to optimise property costs and work with the business to deliver these
- Work with landlords, property agents and internal stakeholders to ensure timely payments and resolution of property-related financial matters
- Own all Fixed Asset accounting reporting processes
- Support Head of Finance with inputs and assumptions for new store appraisals
Skills & Experience Required
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Previous experience in property accounting, ideally within a retail, hospitality, or quick-service environment
- A good understanding of the IFRS and FRS 102, including knowledge of statutory accounts and relevant disclosures
- Proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite experience a plus) and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, landlords and property agents and influence decisions
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
